Clubs & Sports that Facilitate Growth

Athletics

DRMS is committed to providing welcoming and all inclusive extracurricular programs to our students to help them develop not only their skills but to learn how to work together for a common goal. All parents and guardians must provide written permission for students to partake in any of our extra curricular activities. In addition students will be educated on best practices to ensure that they do not harm themselves or their peers. 6th, 7th & 8th graders are all welcome to participate in intramural sports. It is important to DRMS that no student is denied an opportunity to learn and improve.

Only 7th & 8th graders are invited to play on interscholastic, competitive, teams. Tryouts will occur for these teams at the beginning of each season. We  recommend that all students who are not asked to participate on the interscholastic team remain on the intramural team to continue learning and developing their skill. All teams are offered for both genders.

If any student is interested in participating in a team that is not represented at DRMS please contact Sherri Holton to discuss creating a team or club based on peer interest.

Parents & Guardians

We encourage all parents and guardians to be a part of DRMS athletics and clubs regardless of experience. While our coaches are trained to ensure student health and safety a number of opportunities are left available to family.  Please contact Sherri Holton for more information regarding opportunities.

Non-Athletic Clubs

Students will be given opportunities to partake in non-athletic clubs. These will meet either during lunch block or after school depending on student interest and transportation needs. Clubs include Debate, Science Olympiad, Battle of the Books, & AVID, Writing, Drama, Music, and Language based clubs. If more than five students are interested in creating a new club administration will work with interested students to ensure that the opportunity is created.

Whole Family Involvement

At DRMS we encourage parents to be a direct influence on their students education both within and outside of school. We encourage parents to facilitate clubs growth and development through leadership and advisement. If you are interested in creating or contributing to a club please contact Sherri Holton.
